Bad news for Arsenal - not only have Barcelona won more points in Spanish-English European games than any other club since 1992, La Liga teams have never been stronger against Premier League opponents.
They are the findings of a Sky Sports study into results between English and Spanish sides when they've met in Champions League or Europa League/UEFA Cup contests over the past 24 years.
Spanish sides have defeated their English opponents on 67 occasions out of 164 meetings and the head-to-head trend suggests their dominance has never been stronger.Arsenal are already up against it, after losing the first-leg of their last-16 tie to Barcelona 2-0 at the Emirates. Boss Arsene Wenger has given his side a five per cent chance of progressing - and the omens aren't good for the Gunners.
Barcelona have won 21 of their 44 encounters against English teams, boasting a staggering +30 goal difference in head-to-heads. If all of those fixtures were for points, Barcelona would have accumulated 77, far more than second-placed Manchester United who would have 39.
Since 1992, Arsenal have lost five of their eight encounters with Barcelona and only recorded one victory - a 2-1 win at the Emirates in the Champions League last 16 first leg in February 2011, before losing 4-3 on aggregate at the Nou Camp.
In fact, Barcelona have defeated the Gunners more times since the Champions League rebranding than any other English club - although they also have a 100 per cent record against Manchester City (W4).
Chelsea are the only English team to reign supreme over the European and La Liga champions, winning four, drawing five and losing three.
Barcelona have now gone 36 games unbeaten in all competitions and have been the driving force behind La Liga's unprecedented dominance over Premier League sides.
